Introduction to Figure Skating

Skaters who are at least five years old and have completed Basic Skills Level 1, 2, and 3, or equivalent, in the City of Steamboat Springs Learn to Skate Program are eligible to participate in the Introduction to Figure Skating Program.

The Introduction to Figure Skating course is available in three separate sessions each year.

Fall Session: August 23rd, 2026, through December 13th, 2026

Spring Session: January 3rd, 2027, through April 18th, 2027

The cost for the Introduction to Figure Skating can be paid in one flat rate or divided into installments. $150/month Fall Session is August 24 - December 19 (no class Labor Day weekend 9/6 or beginning of Thanksgiving Break 11/22)

Fall Session: $600

Spring Session: $600

Introduction to Figure Skating classes take place at the Howelsen Ice Arena.

Introduction to Figure Skating is held on Sunday at 3pm.

Sunday Schedule:

3pm - 30 minutes of group instruction, 15 minutes free skate

Skaters enrolled in our Introduction to Figure Skating Program during the spring session are eligible to participate alongside our year-round skaters in the winter and spring ice show.

Please note, there is a separate registration fee for the Spring show.

All skaters need to wear tight fitting clothing. It is recommended that all skaters wear a jacket and gloves. Hair MUST be pulled back securely away from the face.

No skaters will be allowed on the ice in jeans or shorts.

Every participant in the Introduction to Figure Skating program will be granted a complimentary USFSA Membership upon registration.
